I always try to avoid going to the baby room at all Aeon outlets after reading bad reviews about them. My biggest concern is the nursing cubicles using only fabric curtains for privacy instead of lockable doors. Plus I have seen with my own eyes male staff going into the baby room to use the hot water dispenser.
Last weekend I decided to pay a visit and try it out myself. To my surprise, the baby room is quite spacious with a common area equipped with 3 changing stations and a hot/cold water dispenser and benches for families to sit and wait. The nursing rooms are located further in with a sign outside that says men are not allowed.
There are 3 cubicles available and each cubicle is furnished with a small sofa, coffee table and a wall plug (for pumping moms). The room is spacious enough to fit a stroller.
Unfortunately curtains are used instead of doors, which makes it feel insecure because anyone can just flick the curtains open while your boob is hanging out! And true enough, while I was nursing T, a very rude kid (about 6-7yo girl) pulled the curtains open to peek (she was doing it to every single room and I was in the last one). I was appalled that her mom was actually following behind her while she was doing all that and did not stop her at all until I shouted at her angrily. All she could do was mumble “sorry” and pulled the curtains shut again.
I did not manage to take photos of the common area as there were a bunch of kids playing there noisily (without adult supervision). It seemed like their parents had gone off shopping and left the kids there to entertain themselves.
If I have a choice, I would try to avoid using the baby room at Aeon. The facilities are quite good, I must say. Unfortunately, there is lack of privacy for nursing mothers, plus the facilities are sometimes being misused. Like male staff going in to get hot water, or staff using the nursing rooms for naps… among some reviews that I’ve read. And of course, rude kids pulling the curtains open.
